The working principle of the oil and gas separator of the screw air compressor mainly includes the initial separation of the oil and gas barrel and the secondary fine separation of the oil and gas separator. When the compressed air is discharged from the exhaust port of the main engine of the air compressor, oil droplets of various sizes enter the oil and gas barrel. In the oil and gas drum, most of the oil is deposited to the bottom of the drum under the action of centrifugal force and gravity, while the compressed air containing small oil mist (suspended oil particles less than 1 micron in diameter) enters the oil and gas separator‌.

In the oil and gas separator, the compressed air passes through the oil and gas separation filter element, and the filter layer of micron and glass fiber filter material is used for secondary filtration. When the oil particles are diffused in the filter material, they will be directly intercepted or gathered into larger oil droplets through inertial collision. These oil droplets collect to the bottom of the oil core under the action of gravity, and return to the main engine lubricating oil system through the return pipe at the bottom.

‌The main components of the oil-gas separator include the oil filter screen and the oil collecting pan. When the compressed air enters the separator, it first enters the main part of the oil and gas separator through the intake pipe. The function of the oil filter screen is to prevent oil droplets from entering the outlet pipe, while allowing air to pass through. The oil collecting pan is used to collect the settled lubricating oil. In the separator, when the air passes through the oil filter screen, the oil droplets will be forcibly separated due to the action of centrifugal force and settle on the oil collecting pan, while the lighter air is released through the outlet pipe‌.

Through this dual separation mechanism, the screw air compressor oil and gas separator can effectively separate the oil and gas in the compressed air, ensure the quality of the compressed air, and protect the normal operation of subsequent equipment‌.
